What people think?

. "Do I look fat? I should change before someone see me in this" We spend more than half are day worrying about what other people think/say of or about us. Growing up as I did with a father that molested me from age 2 to 12 and coming out in a very public way, and Daddy being a big wig at SantaFe railroad and rich, and Mommy being on welfare and working in the Bar at nights and my Uncle (who I adored) being THEE Heroin dealer in town and your house the PARTY central. Well you may have guessed that there was LOTS of things said about me. I had to learn fast that PEOPLE always have something to say about you no matter what you are doing or not doing. I had to find my own self confidence and worth fast because thee adults around me where not going to help support me in finding my true self. What a world it would be if we all stopped worry about what other PEOPLE thought and worried about what we thought of ourselves.

What people think is important because they are our mirror. We can only see "as in a glass, darkly"... but when we receive the Gift we begin to see ourselves... Bobbie Burns said.. "Oh wuld God the giftie gie us... to see ourselves... as others see us."
sometimes its good that you listen to others. i mean i know im not one to talk or anything, but i think that if you listened to them you may learn a thing or two. but it doesnt mean you have to conform to their expectations, but its something you can learn from and embrace for the better.
Thank you both for you FEEL good words. The point I was making being a surviver of childhood molestation and constitstaement that I would never be much. there was little support. And as teacher myself is this,"MY SELWORTH IS NOT WRAPPED UP IN OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS OF ME" we all take in others opinions of ourselfs weather these opinions be a postive or negative, as all we could/should/can be. When we do not live up to these opinions they become a cut to make a SOUL wound { Iam sure anyone who as worked with children can see it in there eyes} we feel more and more less human. To instile a unflinching selfworth in a human being will only enable this person to vaule the self and others.
